Flower Stool

Flower Stool

Flower Stool is carved by hand from solid Australian hardwood. The seat is shaped as a single sculptural form with petal-like edges and a shallow dish for comfort. The frame and stretchers are sheoak, a dense native hardwood selected for strength and shimmer.

Each surface is worked with edge tools — carved, shaved and refined by hand — then finished with a hand-burnished, plant-based coating. The finish is a quiet satin rather than a sprayed gloss; subtle tool marks and slight movement in the timber are considered part of the work.

Joinery is fully mechanical. The stretcher system is built to take daily load, and the stool is rated to 120kg+ for residential use. A reinforced specification, rated to approximately 150kg, is available on request.

Finish options:
– Bone (pale off-white, burnished satin)
– Warm Taupe (soft neutral tone)
– Charcoal (deep near-black)
– Natural sheoak frame (legs and stretchers in natural sheoak)

Custom colours within the studio palette are available to order.

Made to order. Typical lead time 4–6 weeks.
Built in small numbers in New South Wales, Australia.

Care: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Minor checks in the hardwood over time are normal and do not affect performance.

Features

Finishes/ Colour

Finish options

– Bone (a pale off-white, burnished satin)

– Warm Taupe (soft neutral tone)

– Charcoal (deep near-black)

– Natural sheoak frame (legs and stretchers left oiled/finished in sheoak’s own tone)

The seat and upper form are hand-painted and burnished to a quiet satin sheen, then sealed and waxed by hand. This finish is chosen to hold subtle tool marks and retain depth in the carved surface.

Sheoak legs and stretchers are left in a natural finish to show the grain and colour of the timber.

Custom colours are available on request within the studio palette.
