Studio

Luke Crouch designs and makes furniture from solid Australian hardwood in Tasmania’s Central Highlands. He carves and joins every piece himself, using axes, adzes, scorps, rasps and planes alongside traditional timber joinery.
The work draws on the Ginkgo leaf and flower forms, on traditional chairmaking and on restrained modernist mass. Proportions and surfaces are settled during carving rather than fixed in advance, so no two pieces are identical.
The studio is represented by Tuleste Factory, New York.
