Description

The Post & Rung Chair is a restrained seating form built around structural clarity, visible joinery, and traditional chair-making logic.

Hand-shaped from solid Australian hardwood using axe, adze, chisels, rasps, scrapers, and hand planes, the chair is defined by its post-and-rung frame, carved seat, and quietly resolved backrest. Each element is shaped for strength, comfort, and proportion rather than industrial uniformity.

The frame remains visually open, allowing the structure of the chair to be read clearly. Rungs provide rhythm and mechanical integrity, while the hand-shaped seat and softened transitions bring warmth and tactility to the otherwise architectural form.

The Post & Rung Chair is suited to dining settings, hospitality interiors, residential projects, and architectural spaces requiring a quieter, more adaptable piece. It carries the studio’s hand-made language in a restrained and highly specifiable form.

Made individually to order. Slight variation in surface, gesture, and proportion is inherent to the process.

Finish note

Shown in Charred. Patina and Natural Australian hardwood available upon request.

Charred gives the chair greater graphic clarity, allowing the frame, rungs, carved seat, and backrest to read as a unified silhouette. Patina offers a quieter, chalky white that allows the form to come forward, while Natural preserves the warmth and grain character of the hardwood.

Custom finishes are available by enquiry for interior, hospitality, and project requirements.
